Annual Spring Show 2015

What a Show - Lots of people - big entry of exhibits - a sea of colour - an array of plants for sale - cups of tea and scones - all of this added to a very successful show.

The 53rd Annual Daffodil and Spring Show, held as usual in St Columba's Hall, must go down as one of the best seen in Omagh for a number of years. The daffodil entry was exceptional with exhibits showing the full range of species and a large number of different varieties. These daffodil exhibits formed the backdrop of the hall that was  set out with tulips, rhododendrons, pansies, cacti, amaryilla's, alpines and a fine display of floral art exhibits. The colour was brilliant and the scene was complimented by a childrens display of floral art collections showing not only the individual talent but a great deal of imagination. This year Omagh Gardening Society was hosting the Amateur Championship of Ireland for daffodils and the accolade went to Derrick Turbitt, from Coleraine. A further addition this year was a special award to Cooley Grammer School in recognition of their entries into the Show over recent years.

Dr Haldane Mitchell MEB presented prizes and spent time with the children offering words of congratulations and encourgement.

Clearly the members and committee were delighted that all the hard work and effort given resulted in an excellent Show.  The Show Committee would like to thank all those who took part in the Show and the Public for their support and the local shops and sponsors who generoursly sponsored the Show. The day was rounded off with an enjoyable dinner and entertainment at Omagh Golf Club.
